A project I am excited about is getting closer to release.

In the ‘90s, while I was researching my first book, I got to know fellow baseball historian Bob Gaunt. He interviewed dozens of former players and wrote an outstanding book. Unfortunately, it was soon out of print and impossible to find today. I always thought it would be a great one to reprint. In 2023, the Wall Street Journal published an article titled “Five Best: Baseball Biographies.” Included in it was this book. That new attention helped me convince McFarland Books to publish a new edition. Working with the family of the late Bob Gaunt, I have taken his wonderful text and added a new section, index and photos. It will be available in 2025.
